“Authenticity” has become a cultural currency—brands claim it, influencers market it, institutions package it.

But authenticity cannot be performed.
It is not a brand value; it is a philosophical stance.

The danger is that the more we speak about authenticity,
the further we drift from it.

Art suffers the most.
When artists are expected to be authentic on demand, authenticity becomes performance, and performance becomes identity.

True authenticity is not transparency—it is intellectual honesty, the willingness to contradict oneself, to be unresolved, to resist clarity when clarity is false.

And that is precisely what our culture fears.
